APTA Clinical Instructor Education and Credentialing Program –January 9-10, 2010

Presenter: Gina Musolino, PT, EdD

Effective January 1, 2010 all Clinical Instructors
must be credentialed through APTA to supervise
foreign educated physical therapists.

This program is recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as a Clinical Instructor (CI) Education and Credentialing Program. The program was developed through a grant funded by APTA.

The program addresses issues of planning and preparing for students from the health care disciplines during their clinical education experiences; developing learning experiences and supporting ongoing learning through questioning and effective feedback. Skills of evaluation are discussed, as well as the identification and management of students with exceptional situations. The program closes with a brief look at legal implications for clinical educators, including issues presented by ADA legislation.

The “Assessment Center” provides each participant with the opportunity to apply information from the program in simulated situations. Successful completion of each station in the Assessment Center results in the awarding of APTA’s CI Credential. The six assessment center stations are integrated into the program schedule.

This course will be held at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo, CA. Click here <http://www.ccapta.org/associations/9137/files/01_09_10_CIECP_Flyer.pdf> for a registration form and additional information!
