Spidertech Kinesiology Tape Stretches Athletes’ Performance
Ever since Kerry Walsh’s debut of her black Spidertech kinesiology tape on the volleyball courts at the 2008 Olympics, millions of athletes have started talking advantage of its benefits.
Some benefits of Spidertech kinesiology tape include:
Spidertech is the only kinesiology tape that offers pre-cut applications for different parts of the body. The pre-cut tape saves time during the application process and extends patient wear by eliminating fraying and loosening of edges. It’s breathable and waterproof and can be worn up to five days during intense exercise, swimming, and showering.
The tape is a perfect adjunct to other treatment methods since it also sends feedback through the nervous system to decrease pain and restore normal muscle function. The tape has the ability to correct muscle dysfunction and to stabilize joints. I have had excellent results using the tape to treat such common diagnoses as Patellofemoral Syndrome and Iliotibial Band Tendonitis by using the tape to help activate dysfunctional musculature.
Cyclists, triathletes, baseball players, martial artists and marathon runners are just some of the diverse groups of athletes that have been seeing great results with the tape. One recent patient, who had been recovering from continuous calf strains over the last year, was able to run the San Diego Rock n Roll Half Marathon with no pain or tightness. Just last week I saw a triathlete who had been experiencing chronic pain at the end range of ankle dorsiflexion, limiting his ability to run. Immediately following application of the tape, he was able to run pain free for the first time in over a year. These are just a few examples of the many patients that have benefited from Spidertech kinesiology taping treatments in my own practice Since the tape’s indications are virtually endless, you can always find a way a patient will benefit from its application. Spidertech is an effective modality that can improve clinical outcomes immediately or after just a few days of wear.
